E-Class vs. Lexus GS: Performance
The Lexus ES comes equipped with a standard 3.5L V6 engine that outputs 302 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has a standard 241-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine that generates 273 lb-ft of torque. While the initial ES base engine is stronger than the E-Class base engine, it can’t compare to the strongest of the E-Class lineup. The performance-ready AMG® E 63 S features a handcrafted AMG® 4.0L V8 engine which produces an enthralling 603 hp. The strongest engine the 2020 Lexus ES has can only manage 302 hp.
In addition to stronger engine options, E-Class drivers can expect a smoother ride around Newark compared to the Lexus ES. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class comes equipped with more gears thanks to a 9-speed automatic transmission; meanwhile, the ES has an 8-speed automatic transmission.
E-Class vs. Lexus GS: Premium Features
Although it’s more expensive than the GS, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class offers tons of technologies you can’t get on other luxury models. Case in point: the Lexus GS. You’ll get driver comfort and convenience standard on the E-Class, while these features cost extra or aren’t available on the Lexus GS:
- Car-to-X Communication: E-Class drivers in and around Alameda can send/receive traffic updates, weather notifications, and hazard warnings.
- 64-Color Ambient Lighting: Use the COMAND® display to choose from 64 selectable colors for the interior LED system.
- Driver Memory Settings: Enjoy standard power front seats with memory and 4-way lumbar support on the E-Class; with the GS, you have to pay extra for this feature.
- Android Auto™: While both vehicles offer standard Apple CarPlay®, only the E-Class comes with standard Android Auto smartphone integration as well.
