Mercedes-Benz Brand Enhanced by New CLS as Design Icon

The new Mercedes-Benz CLS has been the latest brand enhancing design to incorporate the company's innovative nature with the materials used in the car.

An enticing mixture of satin and high-gloss finishes are used on the car's metal surfaces.

The new CLS features matte galvanized air vents, framing the high-gloss-trimmed analogue clock forming an appealing piece for framework.


"Handcrafted perfection is reflected in details such as the stitched seat covers or the so-called sewn covering for the dashboard," the manufacturer explained.

Lumileds LEDs in Mercedes-Benz Cars

Mercedes-Benz has decided to used Luxeon Rebel LED lights for their daytime running fixtures on a number of their models.

They began this adaption in June of 2010 starting with their E-Class models. Mercedes-Benz plans to expand these efforts into other models' daytime running lights by installing them in other models as well.

Uwe Kostanzer, head of Exterior Lighting Department at Mercedes-Benz Car Group, said that the German company the maker of the Luxeon Rebel LED lights, Phillips Lumileds as a partner because of the product's supremacy in output, quality of light and thermal stability.

Mercedes-Benz ended the production of the first-generation CLS-Class - after several successful years and the hopes that a next generation version of the CLS-Class will introduce it to even more customers.

The CLS-Class was orginially launched in 2004, it started a styling revolution which made the term "four-door coupe" a household term, almost. This model was immediately successful, and went on to sell more than 170,000 units.

The last car was a CLS550 built for an American customer who specified the AMG styling package, premium leather upholstery, bi-xenon headlights, and other goodies.

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG for 2011

The all new Mercedes-Benz AMG S63 for 2011 is a powerhouse of German engineering. The vehicle contains an intense 5.5 liter bi-turbo V8 engine.

That power plant has an output of 537 horsepower, 590 lb-ft of torque. With the AMG Performance Package, that gets tuned up to 563 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. The new S63 AMG couples both those iterations to the 7-speed Speedshift MCT transmission.

Mercedes-Benz GL SUV

Mercedes-Benz is working on an update to their GL series - better known as the SUV made by the world renowned German auto maker.

The GL, a wagon/SUV creation according to World Car Fans, will get front end styling attributes from the current E-Class. GL will be built on a stretched version of the next generation ML platform.

Mercedes-Benz Unveils SLS AMG E-Cell EV

It has been confirmed that luxury auto maker Mercedes-Benz is producing an all-electric SLS AMG roadster for 2013.

The Mercedes-Benz "E-Cell" promises to be the world's first all-electric supercar; hoping to trump the Tesla Roadster in both price and performance.

Power for the E-Cell will be provided by four electric motors - all located at the rear of the vehicle . Each are capable of revving to 12,000 rpm. Power for the setup totals 525 horsepower and 649 lb-ft of torque, good enough for a zero-to-62 time of just 4 seconds.

2014: Mercedes-Benz Will Introduce the GLC

Mercedes-Benz wants to expand on their line up of luxury sedans and coupes within the next couple of years. According to sources, the German auto maker plans to launch the Mercedes-Benz GLC in 2014.

For now the new vehicle is being called the GLC, which stands for "Geländecoupe" - this crossover will have a sporty style with a coupe-style roofline.
